I installed my 450 PSU (The one that was in the Old comp when it fried) and it seemed to work good, now, The new comp just 'Shuts off' What could cause that? the sata splitter thing I bought? Hooking up an IDE Hard drive and giving it no power? Seems to work now after unhooking the IDE hard drives IDE Cable.... Cheers Gunny

Ok I yanked that 450 out....... I think the HP Really screwed it up..... hmmm this really sucks! I put the original 300 Watt back in, if it crash restarts and leaves keyboard/mouse working again, I will be very Worried... Cheers, Gunny
EDIT: It seems my 450 is faulty...... which sucks, I put the 300 back in and been running steady for 2-3 hours.... the funny thing about the 450 is that it ran for like 10 hours before starting to go haywire and just forcing the computer to shut off, but not completely, the Keyboard and monitor lights were on..... But the front LED lights were off..... so were the fans.... it may be the male to female adapter I bought to hook up my sata hard drive, but I dont see how a molex power cable could cause the whole thing to go crazy, I thought they were all the same, but what worries me is that the guy I got it from sells junk, the last thing I bought was an IDE cable for Hard drives and the first one didnt work, and the second one became faulty after several months.... If anyone could give me suggestions, I'd be very happy, I have a 7300LE coming in the next week or so, but with no PSU at least 350W I cant run it lol, so... I am in a tight spot I guess, Cheers, Gunny

lol.... Nice suggestion congo, but I need that Power supply, I guess I buy another one? ah thats annoying.... I just did 3dmark06 and got a CPU score of 914 and 3dmark of 223 LOL this system must have some serious issues somewhere.... probably the built in GPU. Anyways, yea I think I screwed the PSU up, I kept using it to turn the HP back on and it wouldnt work (the computer wouldnt boot) and thats probably what did it in.... oh well it was only 15 bucks lol Cheers, Gunny

You bought a $15 450W PSU? You got what you paid for. Hopefully that $15 PSU didn't take out your new system.
Get a SATA ready PSU from a respectable company like Coolermaster, Enermax, Forton (FSP), Hiper, OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, or Silverstone and you shouldn't have power problems.
Also, it sounds like the system has an onboard GPU.

Cheesegrater, if you notice I am typing back 50 replies a minute lol, So it didnt fry my system (Obviously the last time I did that I was gone for 2 months) and I cant afford some worthless paperweight PSU that has fancy lights and looks worse than the LED lights on the case already with the price of 100 dollars or more..... Thats why I bought a cheaper one, but then I fried the computer it was in....... and it doesnt work, bah... no the new computer is fine, but the Old PSU not working irritates me because I cant afford to be buying things that cost more than my upcoming drivers training etc........ ah hell I'm screwed lol Cheers, Gunny
EDIT: Yea, the computer has an onboard GPU a 256 meg 6100 (Which sucks, I got a 7300LE but no power supply to handle it)

You don't need to spend $150 on a new PSU. However, when you spend $15 you're asking for trouble. Also, because it has lights doesn't mean it's good.
Here are some inexpensive but good power supplies.

Gunny, save and spend later

If you save the $100 and get a Hiper you will thank yourself soo many times later when your computer isn't crashing due to a bad PSU. This is the second PSU you have been through since I started reading the hardware forum, so your atleast $40 into PSUs alone by now. Buying a good quality PSU is the best thing you can do for your computer besides buying an amazing motherboard.
Cheers

Its actually the first PSU and the only PSU I have ever bought, the original in my old comp was a 250 Watt and needed to be replaced, it still works actually but I cant use it because of low wattage, the 450 Watt well that was my fault, I touched the cpu (Top copper part) and rubbed it (Bad idea) and it I guess fried the whole computer, then Eventually after trying time and time again to get it to run, and eventually it just couldnt take it anymore.... Well I'll have to save up now regardless because I bought a graphics card and cant use it.... I guess I'll buy a 500 watt off newegg that is a reasonable brand, Thanks for the suggestions, Cheers, Gunny
Edit: While I am thinking of it, I have my stock 300 watt in this computer (what it came with) been running stable for 12 hours or so, it works.... now, I have another problem not power related, My monitor has one setting for propper display, 1440X900 Res, and in games, my stock card cant handle it in any game other than FS, anyone have a suggestion on a card I should get in a few months? Cheers!
