Specs out like a big box store shelf model. Not bad, if it was moderately priced. Might not hurt to double the ram if mobo specs will allow it. I'm assuming it's also running XP Home.

I give it a 6 'cause its easy to dance to.  ;D ;D

I'd give it a 5 stock (Because I believe it upgrades) and a 7 when your done upgrading.... Thats a nice stock setup from 2-3 years ago but now... I dunno, my old comp was like that and it came Stock as:

AMD Athlon 3200, 2.2Ghz, 512DDR PC2700 Ram, 160 gig HDD, MX440 built in, onboard audio after a year and a half I upgraded to:

1 gig DDR PC2700 ram (Could have taken PC3200) Soundblaster card (Cheapo with gameport) Nvidia 6200 AGP and a 450 watt psu, the old was a 250. It could run FS about 90% settings with lower cloud settings so if thats what you wish to do, Then its good, if you want more, you probably wont get it. Now for comparison, this is my new PC Stock from now:

My new pc is Stock 3800 AMD 64 bit, 1 gig DDR 3200 400Mhz, 250 gig HDD, built in 6100 256 meg (Ram eater being replaced by a 7300LE 256mb)

And for higher end games like Half life 2 after upgrades it ran it max, but mostly Low settings.... Cheers, I hope I havent been too off topic! Gunny

Edit: What do you wish to do with your computer? School/office work? Games? Media? What are you looking to find out about it, what it can do? etc?

Sempron is a budget CPU. G4 MX is a very outdated, but still popular budget card. I dunno, I would give it a 4.

It depends on the 1-10 scale..

If 1 is bare minimum (according to MS's own specs) and 10 is a computer that won't flinch and give 30+fps with sliders at max around complex scenery; with 100% AI and lotsa clouds... Then that computer is a 2.

If 1 is a computer that shouldn't even be running FS( (like a 1000mghz Celeron with 256MB of RAM and poor, onboard video).. And 10 is a computer that will give good performance with default settings.. Then that computer is a 5.

On my personal scale of 1 ~ 10, that computer gets a 2. Parts are outdated, or slow. There is about half the RAM that their should be, and the Sempron is a laptop processer, so that speaks for itself.

On Vista's scale of 1~10 that PC also gets a 2 (accoring to MaxPC). So basically in the FS world, you may be able to run FS9 reasonably, but not FSX, and you might be able to run Vista, but not with all the nice Glass, and other animations that make Vista great.

Cheers

I give it a one, just because of the graphics card.

Whack a 7900/7800GS in the AGP slot, O/C the sempron for all it's worth, drop in a matching set of ram that runs in dual channel (1 - 2 gb's ) and it gets a 6 or so. Remember, there are dual core 64bit cpu's with dual graphics cards on DDR2 systems, a 6 is a favour because the new stuff isn't fed with suitable software yet.

Shopping online for PC parts is the only way I'll do it.

I've tried through retail outlets but they are either twice the price or don't have stock.

Online is the way to go.

I doubt it even has an AGP slot and probably only 3 PCI slots. Most of the low-end units aren't made for upgrading.

Its got an MX440 in it, so its got an AGP slot. Most manufactures are now actually putting a low end card in, so that when Vista comes out they can run Aero Glass.

The AGP is full 8x on NF2 boards, with the right video card, ram and tweaks, that system could still hold it's own.
