Will I have to remove the stock RAM sinks to get the fan to fit on a BFG 6600GT PCI-E?

I think I might have to remove them. How would I go about doing that? I don't want to rip out the RAM with the sinks.

I had the card for only 30 days and the stock fan is already making a buzzing noise. So annoying.

First off, get the all copper one, not the AlCu. The all copper will cool much better than the aluminum one. But it will fit with the current RAM sinks.

On the stock fan I haven't seen the GPU temp rise over 56 degrees. Also it is a 6600GT, I really don't want to spend any money.

Anyways, I'm back in school so I got no time. A month ago I would already have the Zalman installed. Now I got other things to worry about. lol

Yes you should. Also if I remember right the all copper one is only like $3 more than the AlCu one, and well worth the investment. And 56*C is hot, no matter what you currently think

Many new cards on stock fans/heatsinks get load temperatures in the 70's and 80's and idle temperatures in the 50's so it doesn't seem that bad. They should really use larger fans and heatsinks that try to maximize surface area instead of flat ones.

No your used to the new cards, and the crap heatsinks they use. When I had my Radeon X800 stock cooling idled at 36*C. It was only when I threw the clocks way up, did it start idleing in the 40's. So I threw the Zalman on it, and problem solved, and higher overclock came out of it.
