For flight simulator a 1 to 2 gig difference wont make help much, but for many other games 2 gigs is a huge performance boost, and it is certainly a good idea to upgrade.

It depends on what type of sim you run. If you are running allot of add-ons with huge resource hitting aircraft such as PMDG 747 around big add-on airports, yes 2 gigs will help and you will need 2 gigs for FSX and VISTA.
You will not see any frame rate increase with 2 gigs, only faster scenery loads and less disk thrashing which does equate to CPU cycles being saved and therefore it will have a positive impact on the overall feel and smoothness of the sim.
The easiest way to find out how close you are to needing an upgrade on memory is to reboot the computer, boot the sim and nothing else... choose one of your typical flights which involves some good scenery such as a busy airport/city area, etc.. then fly. After you land and finish the flight, close the sim and CTRL-ALT-DEL to call up task manager. Under the performance tab, 'commit charge" check the PEAK value. If it is close to or at 1000000, adding memory would have a positive impact on your sim.
Typically mine sits @ 1450000 with 2 gigs installed on XP X64 and 1250000 on XP X32.

As is evident by my signature. I have 4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, Intel Pentium 4 Processor 560 (3.6GHz) w/HT Technology and 1MB cache, 256MB PCI Express x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X800 XT video card.
It does extremely well with most games. One huge draw back is that when all this is running during any games. There are four cooling fans that kick in and my CPU sounds like a frigging jet trying to take off....

Dude i really don't like that you say this because i'm rebuying a equal card again and you don't know whats going on with my Club3D card. Give your opinion when you know enough, not before. Thank you.
And masmith,
The 7950 is IMO a waste of money, ill buy 2 7900's if i really want SLi:P
Nick i'll consider the 2GB when i have enough cash
