Its still $2K more than I would ever pay for a Mac. Also notice that Mac is starting to use PC hardware and MS software to be able to make these claims.

Unless I'm editing I don't want to use or even see a Mac.

I'd dare say that with $3,000 to spend you could put together an Intel or AMD based PC that would STILL out-perform it..

Not that good.

You can get dual Woodcrests of PCs, and even Quad Opterons for PCs. A quad opteron could be 8cores at 2.8ghz each.

Well what this actually means is that apple is now building x86 PCs in Lian-Li cases, with a $2000 grey apple logo on the side. When you look at how much it would be to build a dual Xeon Rig its still cheaper, and you get better graphics.

All in all its just an overpriced workstation that now has absolutely no advantage over a PC. Infact Mac as a whole has no boost over a PC. With OSX now in x86 digital media producers can continue to use PCs that dual boot OSX, and have the best of both worlds.

The age of the mac is over. They are going to have to make some pretty huge changes to OSX to be able to retain their customers.

Not really. Since they've started using intels Macs have actually started to be come reasonable in their pricing. An example is the new Macbook being actually cheaper than the Powerbook it replaced.

You are still paying $500 ~ $2000 for the apple logo. The only reason I would consider buying a Mac would be for the case. Then I would slap myself and go grab a Lian Li V1200.

A Duel 3ghz Conroe would sure own using fsX. Say, is there any diferance from that and a actual Conroe?

Yes there is a big difference between the two processers. Conroe is a preformance desktop processer. The Xeon was designed to be a workstation and server processer. So saying that a single Conroe can beat it itsn't entirely true. You have to look at the picture as a whole. The Mac wes designed to be a editing workstation, hence the 3 PCI-E lanes, but no SLi.
