processor help needed

while looking into my new rig set up. im torn if i should go duel core or single core.
but something that has been puzzeling me is,
is it 2.4 ghz in each core or 2.4ghz as the max from both.

just wondering

2.4ghz is the speed of each core. ie, there are 2 x 2.4ghz cores.

All you need is this.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe.
2 x 2.4Ghz cores
4MB L2 Cache
Shared L2 Cache
And its a Conroe.

There you go

I've seen people on eBay selling a dual core 3.2 GHZ Pentiums and advertising it as 6.4 GHZ. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. ;D

Dual core is never 200% power. More like 100% as fast to 160% as fast as a similar clocked single core processor.

More and more reports are finally coming out which state the real world performance of ConHoe is not what it was originally hyped up to be...

I would need to get one myself to verify it but i dont want to be INhEll  ;D

kk cheers for clariying that for me

and for now im sticking with AMD.
they always have been better for gameing and always will be

intel are to much of an officer supplier trying to compete in a gamers world.

yeah but they should lower the settings to see a diferance. Looks more like a GPU limited thing there.

Core 2 extreme is currently faster than any current AMD. That will change, but currently Intel is on top.
