Motherboard troubles.

So heres what happened. I wen't to update the drivers for my new 7900GT in Vista. So I go to reboot, and I notice that my overclock had been reset. So I go into CMOS and try to set it back to where it was. The board refuses the clock, so I figured it was time to reapply thermal paste to the northbridge (this is usually the problem), so I return the voltages to stock, and it boots up fine. Well I decided to use Easy Tuner to try and get my clock back to where it should be, however after about 30 min the processer locks up and crashes. So I reboot, and I remember that my PCI-E lane had a +3V on it, so I reset that, but this time the MOBO dosn't post. The board turns on, and everything connected powers up, but no post. So I figure I'll just pop off the nBridge heatsink and reapply and everything will be good. It turns out that the AS5 still is fine on that, so I leave it be. So I try to just jump the CMOS and get it to post. This dosnt work. So as a last resort I remove the CMOS battery, and go upstairs to watch Band of Brothers (which is currently on the History Channel). Come back, reinsert the batt, and the Motherboard POSTs YAY, but wate. I get the CPU and RAM info, but it stalls there. So what do I do? I am completely stumped. I cant think of anything to do to get this darn thing to start.

I'm thinking its time for a new motherboard (ASUS this time) but I really don't want to spend the money, as I just droped $400 on airsoft, so I would need to spend another $150 on the mobo.

No you may not. I've already bought a replacement mobo, found a newer version of the one I bought on ebay for $80 inc overnight shipping, so I figured why not.

But I'm going to go try that emergency flash now. That may just save me.

Well that makes sense I would not doubt you could find one on ebay... thats where most junk ends up

Lol, no I have bought from this vender before, and he is very reputable.

Anyway, tried the emergency flash, didnt work, so now I'm trying the CMOS reset.

New mobo tomorow.

Alright so now I'm really mad.

1st I wake up expecting a motherboard, and I don't find a box.

2nd: I go inside to wate, and I check my e-mail and find out that the vender that I was buying from no longer has any of the board. Aparently someone bought the last one in the store so there wasn't one left for me.

3rd: I now have to spend much more than I orrigionally wanted. ($310)

However I am making an "upgrade" so its not too bad. I am now getting a ASUS P5ND2 SLi and 2GB of OCZ Platnium ed DDR2-800. So atleast now I don't need to buy RAM for my Conroe system and I can sell my X800 for about $100. But it still dosn't change the fact that I am spending $200 more than I wanted to on something that I shouldn't have had to buy in the first place.

What warranty? It was gone like 30 min after I got the board. Its all good though. The new ASUS board and RAM should be a nice change of pace, and a fully functional BIOS should help too.
