I remember awhile back there was a discussion on this, but I can't find it.  Is it better to have fans blowing out more air or sucking?  I would think it would be better to have 2 blowing and one sucking than vice versa. (O RLY? ) I finally bought two fans for my PC which I should've done when I built it two years ago.

Second, I'm going to upgrade my CPU from an Athlon64 3000 to a 3800. (my sister's dual core laptop put my Half Life 2 loading times to shame) Where's the best place to buy?  When I buy it, how much could I pawn off my 3000 for?  No overclocking, by the way.  [wink wink buy it wink]

It is definately better to have fans blowing the air out of the case.

If you are getting a fan that is sucking air into the case I would consider one with a filter because it will be sucking dust with the air.

If you bought two fans you can always put the fans in different places and then compare the temperatures to see what is the best solution for your case.

Mmmk. Lets review.

One fan sucks in the case bringing air over your hard drives, and into your video cooler.

One fan at the back of the case blows exaust out of the case.

Preferably one fan at the top of the case to exaust air out of the top.

But the problem if you have all blowing out is you actually end up with higher temps. Most mobos are designed to have air being blown over their heatsinks, so by having all the air sucked out of your case, you don't allow the heatsinks to work properly. Thats why I reversed my window fan to blow in, insted of suck. I noticed all my temps in that region drop 1 ~ 4*C (North Bridge and GPU).

So one in the front sucking, one in the back blowing, and if you have a window fan or top fan, expirament and find out what sounds best. Also when it comes to a CPU fan. Have that blow.

Ooh, good, that's what I thought would work best. One in the bottom front and two in the middle back.
