I was working on my laptop the other night when I realized that my fan on my laptop was only blowing out one side of the grill and was very weak, normally its very hot and very strong, Im rather worried as my CPU is 3.06ghz and that my laptop is a three year old model and now is only worth about

There is one very cheap method I know...

Get a thermometer and place it next to your grill. ;D

OK, seriously, there are many freeware temperature monitoring programs on the net. I googled it and got results, but the one I opened required that your system have CPU monitoring chips. I am not sure if all require it, but it seems logical and likely.
For now I suggest getting a clean fan very close to ur laptop.

If your system is equipped with temperature sensors, you can use a freeware software called SpeedFan (www.almico.com) which will detect all the sensors and give you a reading of the current temperatures (it can also detect, provided there are sensors, various fan speeds and even, if the motherboard is supported, be set up to vary them automatically). Don't let the CPU consistently run above 50C. With this hot climate, having one of the case fans out of order can be an issue... all components are at risk of overheat, not just the CPU. I suggest you have the laptop repaired ASAP.

Oh dear my CPU is 55C and it says Fan speeds are 0rpm or could this just be there are no sensors installed?

I don't think your CPU fan is not spinning, otherwise you'd already smell something cooking.

Yea 55C is very hot for a lappy. If you know what your doing, or know someone who knows what their doing, oyu can disassemble the lappy, and replace the fan.

Cheers

I have degraded my CPU which means now it is runnign a 1.83 Ghz instead of 3.06 Ghz, my temp on is 38C, But I thought Ill see how it goes with CFS1 and when I quite It had shot up to 74C!
