Personally. I turn all the Force-Feedback off in all my joysticks...

...!
The only reason I purchase FF-type joysticks is for the non-centering, twist action for the rudder and ailerons...

...!
I find the force-feedback effect in General Aviation flights unrealistic and disconcerting...

There you go...

Force feedback in FS9 is not worth it. There is not the slightest bit of realism in that.
It does get better if one disables the force feedback effects in FS9 and enables an external module (FSForce; payware) which definitely does a better job.
But even FSForce is not really realistic; it's better defined as "funny" or "nice".
There is no industrial standard for FF, and even if there was, cheap joysticks still wouldn't cut it.

Not in my experience. Maybe so in low end systems. Of course anything adds to the overall system load.

I'm with Fozzer, FFB sticks are great with the FFB disabled.

When I had CFS2 the FFB in my Logitech Wingman caused me to drive off the side of the carriers every single time. So, I turned it off. It's never been turned on since.
Therefore, FFB is a waste of time.

I've turned of FFB, it makes flying a much better experience in fs9, alsos ome palnes don't like force feedback and act quite crazily with it on. One JSF model nose dives above 30 knots, even with full up elevator and trim for me.

The one thing I would like add...
If you decide to play Mech Warrior type games and shoot-em-up games, as well as Flight sims, you may be glad that you purchased a Force-Feedback type joystick in the first place...

...!
You then have the choice, FF on/off....
