Price Reduction

While at the Computer Depot, I was told that in about two weeks Intel will come out with their new super chip. As a result, AMD is going to cut their prices by as much as fifty percent. For example, an AMD 4000+ CPU will around about $200.00. AMD compataible motherboards are also destined to go down in price. I say the prospective price list. If this is true, it's a great opportunity for AMD loyalists to take advantage of the price reduction. I'm even thinking about buying the most powerful AMD CPU and associated mobo now and just keep them for future upgrade which is inevitable. Prudent move or not?

Possibly the 27th however AMD may hold off an extra week or so.

Best bang for the buck is the 5000+

Overclocked it should easly exceed the FX62 and close to theoretical FX64

for 400 bucks its a steal. It may even drop lower by Q4.

I'll wait for the 5000+. What mobo do you think is appropriate for this power CPU. How about RAM?

Right now and based on what is availabe, Asus on the AM2 motherboard, preferably NF5 SLI, and OCZ on the memory 2x1024. Contact an OCZ rep directly once you figure out the motherboard model and they will make sure you get the perfect match in memory for it.

Well as far as I have found, many of the AM2 boards have said that they like DDR2-667 Corsair RAM, well the nF5 boards at least.

I have not really seen enough reports on the AM2 NF5 boards to know if it prefers one memory product over another. That is why I suggested the OCZ rep. Those guys do not bullship you into a purchase... it their memory does not do the job they will tell you what memory does it best.

I know, I found the RAM in my system that way, however I was basing this on the Corsair logo below many of the AM2 boards saying that this board works best with Corsair XMS memory.

Advertising. fsX film was ona X850 even though at the end of the video it sais the game runs best on Nvidia. The video was also shown at the Nvidia booth at E3

Pure advertising, Corsair just paid them to do it.
