Finding things to do...

Hello Chaps, A very unusual question here, so i'm not quite sure which part of the forum this should go in.

Ive had my new system for almost a month now, and i'm only really using it for Flight sim. I'm so used to just using my system for flight sim and no "Heavy" games, because ive never had an advanced system before. So these days im only using it for the odd flight and internet!

Farcry, Battlefield 2 & Call of Duty 2 would be my 3 best "heavy games."  Not many systems can run Call of Duty 2 in DX9 mode well.

In about 45-50 days you, and allot of other people, will have plenty to do

FSX

8) 8)

You see the thing is, in the meantime, whilst i have my system, as previously mentioned, i only use it for a few flights in FS, and the rest is just general internet and work apps etc.

So i feel as if ive "wasted" money because im not using it too its full potential.

Unlike others, i never in the past had an brilliant computer which could play the latest games, so ive never really got into that trend, and now i have a good computer, i still dont use it to its full potential...

Cheers,

James

It depends on what you like Jimbo. I mean, it's not a waste in my opinion because you get a really nice FS experience, even if you only fly occasionally, it's a quality experience.

I host IL2FB online servers with intense mission files that really test my rig and push it hard. This punishment was enough to crash the rig when O/C'd to the limit, where my testing software even failed to do that, IL2FB wasn't as friendly, forcing me to back off my overclock slightly.

I loved Far Cry, but I'm sure it's not for everyone, A new version of the game will be out soon, and as Nick pointed out, FSX is coming.

Recently I bought NFS Most Wanted, COD and BF2. Most Wanted forces me to back off my video settings (my poor old 6600GT) while the military games seem fine.

The war games are still freaking me out, somewhat more realistic than I expected, and to be honest, a tad disturbing at first, but hey, I'm getting into them and finding them fun.

Far Cry was a hoot for me. The surrealism and theme made it less shocking than the military games, I mean, killing monsters and Dr. Evil's henchmen was easy, without a true sense of the horrors of war like COD gives you.

I guess I'm a wuss, just don't corner me  ;D

CoD2 is rather realistic isn't it? Great game. One of the first games I could see the real advantages of my system, everything graphically was awesome right down to serial numbers on weapons to the time on a watch.

I love IL2 especially online but unfortanatly my dial up connection won't allow me the enjoyment of flying online like I could a few months ago, it gets worst everyday. What I really like about IL2 is that almost any rig can run it, but obviously the better the rig the better the experiance.

LOMAC would also be a good run for a machine.

But if you want a game to use your potential grab CoD2, Farcry I enjoyed, and FEAR if you like the crap scared out of you!

I use my computer for H&D2 and internet mainly. Then on the side I run some photographic software. Hardly pushing it to the limit as my old PC with less than quarter of the power could to all that. :P :)

If you enjoy arcade games then get the latest version of MAME. There are well over 800 games for it, should keep you busy for a while.
