Yes boys its tomorow. The chip that I have been bosting for the past 6 months is going to be here tomorow!

So as we can see here, I will be getting a new rig soonish. But thats not the point. The point is that end of august ish is going to be the time to buy for you guys on a budget. AM2 prices are dropping, and P4 and PD chips are taking on the name of Celeron, so you are going to be able to get some really nice hardware at cheap cheap prices. Keep your eyes on www.newegg.com and rejoyce with me tomorow as AMD burnes in hell.

While I'm not an Intel fan (AMD-lol), I am certainly excited to see a new cpu. Looks really good, if I say so myself. Conroe is also doing me a BIG favor: Cheap AM2 Dual Cores! Well thats probably the ONLY way I am gonna benefit from Conroe. (Aside from swithing to Intel) May the CPU wars (pricewise) begin!

The dual core AMD 5000+ will drop in price to below 500 dollars within a matter of weeks here. That processor will perform close to the FX62 and may exceed it if properly overclocked.

The E6400 or E6300 look to be the ones to get.. high performance and low price.  What the fan boy's don't seem to get is this "battle" is false amd releases a chip is beats intell then intell realeases a chip and it beats amd... on and on.  Each time a new chip comes out and beats the compotition a huge amount of publicity is drumed up.  Just do what I do and buy the chip which has the best value for money

Say what you might, but when it comes down to it conroe is just better. It outbenched the crap out of everything AMD threw at it, and the prices aren't even that off the wall.

AMD also dosn't have anything to fight back with, minus low prices. K8L dosn't come out until late in '07, but then again thats the same time Kentsfield comes out. So when you look at it, Intel is reclaiming the top, and there aint nothin AMD can do to stop them.

CJ, is spending some odd thousands of dollars on a single chip worth the extra 2-3 fps, are you really seeing it. or is this a power struggle about trying to be the best?

however those AM2 dual cores... makes me wanna save up... hell i could still get 939's, now at bargain basement prices! way to Go Conroe!

It got 40 more than a AMD fx-62, and 60fps more than a stock 550. In FsX (It's multithreaded), I'd expect it to be a big gain with AI.

Here are the things that make me cream my panties about Conroe.

1: More L2 Cache, and also a shared L2 cache. So now with our Dual core ability, we are also going to have a rediculous amount of multitasking, and not only that but the shared L2 is going to take alot of load off the processer and open up the rest of the cache it would have used for the duplicate kernal for other things.

2: More itoms per clock cycle. So now I'm getting more power for my clcok.

3: The raw power. Its been prooven over all AMD processers. The E6700 IS the second best processer on the market (bar the EE).

4: The extreem edition only bosts a higher clock. This means that I can pay $500 for $1100 preformance just by overclocking. Now I know that the EE will clock much higher than the E6700, however as long as I get 3.0 I'll be happy.

5: Its dropping prices on everything. Which means that I'm going to be able to pick up a 805 Ceder Mill for $93 or a 820 for $120. This means that I am going to be able to spend more cash on my upgrade, and less on new rigs for my mum and sister (The budget for the Vista upgrade is one lump sum, not indavidual budgets).

Yes boys its here, and its here to stay. Say whay you like, but it dosn't change the fact that you know I'm right, and you know AMD is just gone. I mean they killed off two of their chipsets, they don't have another release until Q3 '07 with K8L. But thats the same time as Kentsfield, and as long as the two dies on one thread dosn't fail, we are going to see some amazing things come out of intel in the next two years. Also with ther plan to release a new core every 2 years AMD is just going to lag and drop out.

And gamers will have to change their thoughts completely.

X6800 EE has unlocked multiplyer AFAIK. Also, I am thinking of getting one, what is best bang for buck, E6600 (4mb cache)?

It really depends on how much you want to clock. If you want an amazing processer cheap, go with the E6600, but if your looking for heavy overclocks than look at the E6700.

I don't care about who's at the top.. the price of one of those chips is my whole pc.. I only care about older and the ultra low end and as far as I can see amd is still ontop there as the new intell chips are not going down to the low end... there trying to flog there old chips down there.

As for having a hatred of AMD? why? what makes intell "better" amd and vise versa.  They both make CPU's for pcs which work well.  Personaly I hope another chip company comes into the market to provide more compotition (VIA?).  Then again i'm not a rabid fan boy  ;)
