Another Joystick Question!

Well, i've fixed the problem I had with my buttons on the joystick working ;D
But, in doing so, i created a whole new one!
Basically, I took the whole stick apart, and gave the insides a good clean, which fixed my button pushing problem, but in doing so, ive displaces a 'spring' inside. Basically it looks like a small coil of wire (about 2 coils deep, while about 2cm across) and sticking out (in the same place) are two 'L' shaped things, I know that this is the thing that allows the joystick to centre itself after its been moved (as in twisted, like a rudder) But I cant for the life of me work out where on the joystick its meant to attach to. Its on the central 'stalk' but on the inside side of the stick, it doesnt seem to have anywhere obvious for it to go, I've tried so many different combinations of places, but it never 'pings' back into place. I understand that this is realy hard for you guys to understand as there are no pictures, but im really annoyed! Cheers.

Hard to help on this one without owning a similar stick to tear apart.

LOL... I understand where you are coming from, and to be honest I didnt think it would be easy. But its pretty similar to basically all other joystick set ups, I probably explained it in the wrong way. Basically, I didnt mean the exact point at which to attach it, im having a problem working out genrally what to do with the spring. Because inside, there is one long white tube, which is the bit that actually measures the Y and X axis. about 1/3 of the way up is a bit that sticks out and runs all the way around the tube (a bit like a washer, but actually part of the stick), and has 2 bits sticking out on top of that on opposite sides (if your following! Not sure if I am....::) Thats what im trying to get at, that the spring cant run around the whole tube.so obviously it needs to be attached in some way to a part of the outer plastic handel, and im not sure what to do with the other bit....

Ok i've confused myself. So sorry if I have you guys too.... LOL.

Cheers,
Alex
