Hello Chaps!

Me again!

ALL is going well with the new system, extremely happy with it.

Ive just got a few things i need help with.

1. The motherboard has an 8 channel sound built it, but when i turn my speakers on, i can hear some crackling and light fuzzing. From both my speakers and earpones. Any help or tips here?

2. I installed Firefox before i copied all my favourites to IE. Is there anyway i can transfer them accross.

Cheers Chaps, and i would like to thank you in advanced.  8)

Answer to #1: Try the newest driver. May be the fix you need.

Answer to #2: IE ~ Firefox, yes. Just go to Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Import.  Firefox ~ IE. Export your bookmarks from firefox.

Cheers
Cameron

What Cam said about the drivers... I dont know what sound chip is on the board but allot of times you can get better drivers at the chip manufacture website than you can @ Asus. Also, verify in the driver settings the output matches the type of speakers you are using. The same applies to the WINDOWS sound settings... make sure the Windows Sound properties are set to the right speaker output AND verify on the MAIN volume control that you do not have feedback coming from another channel... a good way to check that is reduce all the audio sliders to zero, including the MIC and inputs but leave VOLUME and WAV @ 100%. If there is no noise start increasing sliders until the noise returns and you will know where the feedback is coming from.

One last thing.. some 8 channel systems share ports... make sure your ports are configured correctly in the driver properties. I have seen subwoofer-center channel output reversed causing what you are hearing.

Thanks alot of Chaps for the help.

I have another minor problem...

I just installed a new DVD ROM Drive, but when i plug it in, the computer just keeps restarting over and over. Until i take it out.

I know it has to be something with the boot sequence, but i have tried with little success.

Cheers.!

Make the CD-ROM the third boot device and see if it does the same thing. If it does I would think there is a problem with the drive.

Change the boot order, that should fix it.

Then when you get your drivers installed you can change that.
