Broadband speed

My internet connection constantly displays 1.1Mbps, but it seems to be considerably slower - more like a dial up.
Just loading the SimV home page takes 6 seconds. Surely that page can't be 6.6Mbs.

How can I increase the efficiency of my connection?

Check your speed here:

Select the speed test.

Thanks for the link. Here're the results:

Speed Test Results
Downstream 911.0 Kbps ( = 0.9 Mbps )
Upstream 240.4 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )

This agrees with what the connection status says, but doesn't explain the poor internet performance.

Spyware or virus maybe?

I've got Norton Antivirus 2006 and this shows no problems after a full system search a few days ago.

It could be the settings in ActiveX, Java, Java script, & Cookies. There could also, not likely though, be a delay in loading hotlinked images.

1.1 Broadband isnt that great, 1.5 is what I'd consider to be the lowest acceptable one...... I went from 3 meg cable to 1.5 meg dsl and it was a drag, Currently, I have 3 meg dsl (350kbps download about 80-90 upload) simvi seems to load slow lately anyways, Cheers, Gunny

You have to remember that internet speeds are measured in bits and not bytes.

ISpeed can be displayed and/or measured in both... Bytes divided by eight or bits multiplied by eight

As I said, I am on a dedicated 1000KB/s line. It is corporate bandwidth which is typically not available to the general public through my ISP.
