My dad has some friends who managed to get him this new laptop for only $600 when it actually costs almost $1000 in the stores.

I tried to run Quake 4 [as seen in the photo] but it seems that the new laptop is "too advanced" for the game. I don't think the game is 64-bit compatible and therefore I doubt FS9 can survive it.

My dad is an accountant and therefore he uses his profession to get many hook ups with people. Must be nice to be an accountant.

Its not that the lappy is too good, its actually too bad. The turion and the ATi xpress 200 are slowing it down. The turion is a really shotty core, and ATi Xpress is almost worse than the Intel onboard chip.

You might be able to put FS9 on there but I doubt it. We have NFSMW running on a dv8000 at work. It runs okay at 30FPS, but then again its really not that demanding of a game.

Well, at least the system wasn't that expensive. In fact, my dad recieved it as a gift from someone else as a way of saying "thank you for no charging me paperwork" so no money was lost.

BTW, I tried out FS9 and it seems to fair better in this new computer compared to my old laptop that has served me for two years. As for Quake 4, it doesn't seem to work on "any" of the other computers. I can assume that the game may have a glitch in the installation process.

But still I'm not ready to part from my old laptop just yet. I still have work to do on myprojet and the computer will soon be upgraded from 512MB to 1024 MB Ram anyways from my dad's other friend [again, more hook ups].

Quake for some reason is hit or miss. I personally can play it fine. So can my friend with a 2.4Ghz Northwood, 1.5GB of RAM, and a 9800XT, however another guy I hang out with cant play on his X1600 Pro. So the game is a wee bit wierd like that.

But ya as for the FS, see if you can allot more RAM to the Xpress Chip in the BIOS. That should help some.
