Okay, i got given this laptop by my lovely father...its meant to be a work mahcine but from my limited understanding the specs looks pretty fly...

Is it worth installing FS??

The laptop is a Vaio VGN-FE11S:

Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83GHz
160GB, 4300rpm HD
nVidea GeForce Go 7400 256mb
2 x 512mb RAM

+ 15.4" X-Black LCD (res. 1280 - 800)

What do you think? Im currently using a comparable desktop but with a 3.4GHz P4 and a nVidia 6200? Will i notice much mor performance basically?

Cheers, Mikey

That is pretty good for a laptop.  A T2600 processor can out do a FX-60 in a lot of benchs, so a T2400 is pretty good.  Also the 7400 is better than a 6200.

WHAT?! Uh no it can't. Its a Yonah (you know, the intel processers used in the iMac's), not a Conroe, and a lower level Yonah at that. Its not 64Bit, and it struggles through the areas where Intel usually excells. Yeah its better than a Pentium M, however personally I would stick with a Centrino Duo for now, and wate for the better Core Duo's to come out.

It beat the fx-60 in a few of the benchs, even when not overclocked.  When it didn't beat it, it was close.  Yes it is a Yonah. ;)

But did you read the rest of the article. Yes it beat out the FX60, however it was never the top processer at the stock clock.

Personally I would stay away from the yonah's
