the only thing i would change is to get rid of the floppy drive,  unless you really need it.  i have not used a floppy in about 3 years which is why im suggesting that.

Looks good. Personally I would look at PC3500 or PC4000 if your going to overclock heavily, other than that, its a rig even I would want.

Cheers

I'm not really into Overclocking...

Hopefully it should be a good system, and i hope it runs anything i throw it at.
I'm Wondering How FSX will do on it.

Cheers All.

Your going to need another Gig of RAM for that my friend ;) Also if I were you I would use the 7900GT insted of the GTX. In less than a year DX10 is comeing. So your going to have to change video cards anyway, why spend the extra on something your going to have to basically throw away.

Cheers

Hi Cameron

I will consider the 2 X 1GB.

Also, the reason im getting the GTX version is because im purely building a FSX PC. FSX will be released before DX10 if im correct, so the current DX9 cards will be adequate for FSX?

I'm lost... LOL..

Cheers all.

That will be one powerful rig Jimbo.  8)
BTW if you're breaking the old PC for parts I'll take the 6600GT off your hands....... ;D  ;)

Well Jiames, there is contraversy over wether or not FSX is going to be released before DX10. MS says it wouln't, speculators say that it will, and MS will patch it to DX10. Personally I think its going to be DX10 out of the box. Also the 7900GT is definately powerful enough to run FSX with max sliders at decent frame rates. If it can run F.E.A.R. like that, FS should be a walk in the park for it.

they basicly offer the same card but with different coolers/bundles often the only thing they change is the stickers.  Go for the one which has the most free stuff or is the cheapest or has the best cooler.

I would put eVGA above BFG Tech. eVGA have better warrenties. eVGA also tends to be cheaper than BFG, as they dont have all the extra crap that BFG throws in the box.

Re: Final Specifications

Postby Jimbo » Wed May 17, 2006 11:29 am

Ive been having some last minute thinking regarding the CPU..>>

I have originally been thinking of buying the AMD 64 4000+ but for a Bit extra i can get the AMD 64 4800+ X2 Dual core. So here's a few questions i need answering.

1) Will the AMD 64 4800+ X2 Dual core benefit me more now and also be better for the future?
2) Is the AMD 64 4800+ X2 Dual core faster than the AMD 64 4000+ i had originally planned to get.
3) Is one of the cores on the AMD 64 4800+ X2 Dual core faster than the AMD 64 4000+ ?
4) Overall, should i get the AMD 64 4800+ X2 Dual core??

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out here.

Cheers,

James 8)

Well the 4800+ is basically two 3700's squeezed into one. Do you need it now? No. Will future apps use it? Yes. However the new question we must ask is "How good is AM2?" When we answer this question, then we decide wethar you want to go with a 4X series processer, or a 5X one.

Really I wouldn't look at building until around September.

Cheers
