Its a bargin alright, but not one you want. The 6600GT is the minimum you should have. Look for a 6800GS or a ATi Radeon X800GTO

The core arcitexture. In other words, the whole card is much better.

Mr Joyce ........ once again you deflate someone's balloon without getting any further information.

Yes that is a bargain ...... it might not be YOUR choice and it might not have all the whistles and bells that YOU require. However for someone on a budget upgrading from an older and possibly worse spec  card it's a fantastic upgrade.

Is this the case Mr Holvey?

If so then purchase away and enjoy.

Tis true eno, however for mabe $20 more (at the most) you can get a card that is about twice the speed that this card is. The other problem with this card it the manufacture. I have never heard of them before. Now that dosn't mean that it is a shotty card, however just to be safe you should stick with the bigger names like eVGA, BFG Tech, Leadtech.

Looks like your cheapest option is going to be 98GBP since you need AGP. Unfortunately the ATi equivalent is about 115GBP so thats out too. Your best bet may to be save up a bit more (150ish) and get a eVGA / BFG 6600GT.

How about going down to the 6800LE. It's lower spec, but it's within the budget?

Tell me what you think...

Bearing in mind that I've only got an AGP 4x slot.

Lower spec, actually no. The 6800 has a lesser core clock because it has more pixel pipelines than the 6600 does. It also has Pixel Shader 3, something the 6600 dosn't. Go with that, its a better card.
