GFX Card Fan

Postby ChuckMajik » Sat May 20, 2006 4:29 pm

The fan on my 9800 has just stopped running,
and overheating quite readly during taxing computations such playing FS.

Now what I need to know is; can it be fixed, replaced, or do I need to buy a whole new card?

don't do any 3d work with your card till you get a new cooler.

Have a look at an artic cooler, or check out the zalman range of coolers.

ATI silencer:
Look at: ATI silencer 1 Rev 2 (If it is a 9800xt look at the Silencer 3)

Zalman:
Zalman-Look at VF7000ALCU, under graphic cards.

I put an Artic cooler 2 on my 9600xt after the fan went. (It now runs at 28C load.)

All you need is the Zalman VF700Cu from www.newegg.com $35 (if I remember right) and will cool better than anything else on the market, AND ITS BEEN PROVEN! Seriously if you want the best alawys buy Zalman.

True, however in the long run its faster and easier to just replace the fan youself. Also knowing that its a 9800 I doubt that its still covered.

But ya seriously $30 is cheaper and faster than doing it through the manufacture.
