7800GS having a problem

Well this is a new one on me. I Dont even remember seeing this when I researching video cards. Can fly into any stock FS9 airport with no problem. But fly into a addon on scenery (Alsaka Tropy tours and Hanks Trading Post) and Fs9 crashes. Also I went and checked to see if my drivers were up to date at Nvidia. They have an up date says it was released Feb 7 2006, So i d/l and installed per instructions. Checked the drivers in my device listing ant it shows the drivers listed as being dated as 12/10/05. Installed them anyways and tried it again flew into a stock airport fine, get approx 5 to 8 miles from a addon and boom it crashes.
Any thoughts or help. I have it maxed out on all settings so maybe I need to turn it back.

Any thoughts

Current system is a HP-M380N
Intel Pentium 4 3GHz Hyper-Threading

GeForce FX7800Gs with 256MB

Well I searched every where for an answer. No luck. So I was trying everything. So I replaced the FS9 cfg file with my orignal backup. An I could load in any of those addon scenerys with no problem and fly into them also.
Performed a restart to test it and boom same problem. Performed the replacement of the cfg file and all is well.

Guess its time to reinstall FS9 and possiabley a complete restore on the system. Problably should of done this (restore) before installing the new vid card.

Just letting you know what if found. Any ideas on whats happening here.

Well first off does it crash in other games?
If yes continue to step 1.
If no continue to step 2.

Step 1: Completely uninstall all graphics drivers, and then install the most up to date nVidia drivers found on their website. After new driver is installed, setup your AA, AF, etc and max them out to match your games.

Step 2: Reinstall FS completely. This includes getting rid of all installed addons.

Hey ctjoyce thanks for the reply. Well its hard for me to say if it crashes on other games. Only do the flight sim.
So I think Im gonna do both, starting with the drivers again. But I have this nagging feeling that its FS9. But it worked great with the old FX5200. Im confused LOL

Just a quick question. I uninstalled the drivers via add/ remove progms in control panel. Is there a better way.

Thanks

No idea why your having issues but if deleting FS9.cfg fixed them that suggests to me you need a new Fs install.  I usualy install fs every couple of weeks anyway as I am in a constant serch for the optimal setup :D

Hey kipman I agree I have done the Nvidia drivers upgrade tonight with no help. Looking at unistalling FS tommarrow night and reinstall, I just find it exteremly weird that it only happens to addon scenery. Oh well will work on it some more.  Just curious was looking and the FS9 folder were Fs9 cfg is, There is also a scenery cfg. Anyone think this could the problem?? I dont know what it does but it there ???

Well I figured it out. For some reason when the cfg file was updating on shutdown it added a new display line with my new vid card info and left the old display line with my old vid card info.
So I had some sort of conflict there that seem to only affect the add on scenery. I deleted the old display line. saved the cfg file and all is well now. Just thought I would share it with you.
