     Good morning Guys and Ladies,    here's wishing you all a very nice day.  

     I keep coming up with a problem about my "Defrag" program that came with the PC.     After I get my new PC together and up and running, I will  reformat this old PC for "on-line" work.    However,     until then I wish to see if I can "FIX" this problem if for no other reason than to learn .    

     Every time I try to use the "defrag" in  "C" drive I get the message :  "  chkdsk/f.  "    and I'm told that this is scheduled to run .    

     What is this  "  chkdsk/f.  "      I have no  " f  "  disk.  And try as I may - - -  I can only run the Defrag in "D" drive.This leaves my "C" drive a mess.

    I've tried to solve the problem in every manner suggested and still no solution.      Can you come up with other ways I could try ?

I have never heard of that error before, however how much space do you have left on your C drive? I do know that you cannot correctly defragment if you have less than 15% free space.

chkdsk is a command to perform a disk scan and repair. The /F is a command parameter to tell it to run the fix any errors found. There are many switches (parameters) to the chkdsk command:

The chkdsk scan should be scheduled to run at next reboot. If you reboot and the scan does not run, then you have to do it from the repair console as I mentioned in your previous post.

You might also try removing the scheduled chkdsk and see if that helps. Using Regedit, navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

Look for the BootExecute entry, double click on it and delete the autocheck autocheck * entry.

I've gotten that message twice in the last 6 months, both times after after pressing the "Esc" key while airborne in FS9 (testing a downloaded craft that I decided I didn't like for some reason).

On both occasions I've  gone to "start",  "My Computer", right-clicked on Local DisK C, opened Properties, Tools, then scheduled the Scan Disk and rebooted. In my two cases, the machine was telling me that it wanted the Scan Disk program run to fix an error it had detected. Too bad it couldn't do it in plain English...."hey buddy, do me a Scan Disk".

Just read a similar post with this issue that resolved the problem:
