Onboard LAN Not Recognized

It's the damndest thing, and as if I didn't have enough problems already. ::)  Before this whole crash business, it worked perfectly.  Normally, after installing Windows, I will install the NVidia and Gigabit drivers off the MoBo driver disc, whereby both my PCI and onboard LAN devices are displayed.  Not so this time.  When I plug in an ethernet cable, it lights up - Windows just refuses to see it.  I've played with the BIOS settings to no avail. [sigh]

These endless problems...

If you have "active armor" try disabling it, it had alot of issues when launched.

You could also check in the bios to see if you have "plug and play aware OS" set to yes.  Try setting it to no as I usualy get problems with missing hardware and malfunctioning hardware when it's set to yes.

What exactly is Active Armor?  Is it a BIOS option.  I don't think I've ever seent that in my BIOS.
