your pc is a bit overkill for server duties

Seriosuly all that would run on a 500mhz p3 with no probs :O

True,

However you may notice a slight decrease in FS9 preformance while all that is running. Other than that, its a decent server. I personally have a

1.8G Celeron D
2x 250GB WD IDE
512MB DDR PC2700
MX440 128MB
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive

Rig running a CS / Quake / Doom3 / COD2 server. It gets the most use though out of being file storage for my famly (hence all the space). I must say its amazing what you can pick up at yard sales (it only cost me $200) :P

well it's intentions were originally to be a gaming PC (the 230gb of space, the radoen x3100, the dual screens, etc...) but i havent had much time for gaming, and i've been using my mac laptop a lot, so i decided to put my PC to good use.

if i wanted to, i could get my old P2 up and running, that will handle everything i need for a server.

I'm disapointed in you Alex, I thought I had a protage, and you leave me for a mac :( Naw just kidding, I know how much you like that thing, but I'm just sad to see your pride and joy get left that fast.

Anyway back on topic, when can you and I go fly on it, cus I'm kinda getting antsy to get on that server.

Cheers

60GB hd
Athlon 1800
512mb ram
Asus A7v8x-x mobo
Win xp pro (coulden't get IVTV drivers working on ubuntu)

I keep getting draper backports, I will test it on my main pc when its released before thinking about putting it on the server.  As the server took rather a long time to setup amd the older versions of ubuntu still get security and backports releases.  What looks rearly interesting is the version of ubuntu after draper...
