Can anyone recommend a CPU under

$150 3Ghz 64Bit, I only know of one and that is the 805 Ceder Mill However this processer is only 2.66Ghz, and is really a budget processer (and the benchmarks reflect it). Also if you were to buy this, you would need a new motherboard (Intel LGA775, with 955X + northbrdge). That will run you another $150 atleast. So really what you must consider is not only a new processer, but also probibly a new motherboard to go along with it. An upgrade that will most likely run you $350+

He said 150 British Pounds. That's a long way from $150 USD-- about 2X as much. What can he get for 300 bucks US?

Ya you can get a 3700+ or a 650 Prescott. However answering questions about your rig in the past, if I remember right you have a 478 socket, so yor going to need a new mobo nomatter what.

,Neither one, you want a 3700+ San Diego core. That cpu is the one that stands out among the crowd.

The San Diego is based on the E4 cpu stepping, the same one used in the FX57 and the 3800+, 4200+ and 4600+ dual cores.

Interestingly, half the L2 cache is actually disabled  on those dual core models.

The San Diegos (3700+ and 4000+) and the Toledo dual cores (4400+ and 4800+) are the only AMD budget cpu's to contain 1mb of L2 cache ram per core.
