The Daemon is Mailing me again...!!!

Hello Lads... ;D...!

Windows XP Pro. (Original version..no Service Packs).
Browser: Mozilla Firefox.
56k Dial-up Modem.

My old nightmare is back again... :'(...!
I recently trawled the 'Net looking for maps of different countries and I think I might have picked up a very nasty disease from one of them... :'(...!
Constantly returned mail every few minutes, (Mailer_Daemon/Postmaster/etc)...
I would normally suspect the problem to be due to a "TROJAN" virus, but a complete Norton/AVG scan of the Windows registry, HDD boot-block, and my programs, reveals nothing out of the ordinary,,,!!
I have searched everywhere for Trojans with Adaware, etc....and found nothing...!!
I have even carried out the scans in SAFE MODE to gain direct access to the Windows registry...still nothing...!!!

I've even got Norton scanning the computer in DOS...!!!

Does anyone know of  a very good, free-bee, Trojan detector and remover program...?

If all else fails, would an un-install and re-install of Windows cure the problem, (or is the problem hiding in my HDD boot-block...)..?

Have a peek here...loads of Spam every few minutes...pages and kilobytes of it...constantly.

I reckon my Service Provider must be getting peed-off with all this Spam entering his letter-box as well...!!

Cheers Lads, for any advice...!

Paul...may get a dog, to eat the Postman... ;)... ;D...!

P.S. Note also, my Browser is running VERY slowly...!!!

P.P.S. Also note: There are NO addresses stored in my Mail Box...(everything stored on paper)...!

I'm guessing your mail client is being used to spam, can you uninstall it, wipe out any server permissions for it in your firewall/s and try to re-install the mail client?

I would think that a format/re-install would do the trick, you can wipe the boot block with a re-partition, but I doubt it goes that far.

Tell me again why you don't have SP2 ?

I also have a program that checks your

Hello, Congo... ;D...!

Thanks for the reply...!

"Tell me again why you don't have SP2" ?

....Shhhhh....!

My version of Windows XP Pro is and OEM version with a "special" registration number, which precludes me from installing any Service Packs... ;)... ;)... ;)...!
....don't ask why...!
I have the SP2 CD....but it will not install....trust me... ;)...!
...as the saying goes...."End of Story"....LOL...!

My Internet access, and my e-mail is handled and filtered by my Service Provider, Wanadoo/Freeserve.

My only regular incoming e-mail is from newspapers, eg: Washington Post, Kron4, CNN, New York Post, LA Times, BBC, etc...and one or two approved sites.
Any Spam is automatically filtered out, ready for deleting by my ISP.
I don't send any e-mail out.
I don't have any e-mail addresses stored on my computer.

I can't figure out why mail is being constantly bounced backwards and forwards between my ISP and other sites.... :o...!
Because my mail is also handled by my Service provider, I cannot delete, and re-create, my e-mail account, (they tell me)...!
(Outlook Express is not used).

I really don't know what to do about this, except to keep constantly deleting it as soon as it arrives...(every minute!).

It's a funny old do, but all my computer scans with various anti-virus and anti-Trojan programs can detect absolutely nothing suspicious...!!!
It just seems to involve e-mail bouncing by my ISP...!!!

A HDD format would cure it, obviously....but that would also end my life as well...!
LOL...!

By the way....not having SP2 installed relieves me from having security/firewall problems with on-line Flight Sim Multiplayer...(rather like using Win '98SE)...!

Cheers Mate...!

Paul...(I think I have one or two friends in England)...;D...!

Service Pack 2?....don't ask again...LOL... ;D...!
LOL...!

P.S. I've just received 108 Deamon Mailer bounces in the past 6 hours overnight...!
