TFT monitors and dead pixels.

I have recently brought an LG TFT monitor and have noticed that a couple of dead pixels have appeared. Is this a common issue with TFT or do I just have a dodgy unit?

Dodgy unit.  RMA it.  TFTs should not get dead pixels. ;)

I have 4 dead pixels on my 15" Philips 170C monitor, and a quick look through the Instruction Manual that came with it, says that the maximum of 4 dead pixels is allowed anywhere on the screen....
...so I can't complain... :'(...!

One of the dead pixels is right in my line of sight, and is really annoying...!!

The cure is to replace it with a CRT monitor... ;)...!

Dead pixels are a horrible side effect of the transition to TFT LCD technology.

The bright side is that many manufacturers now offer a 0 dead pixel warranty and the redraw delays (down to 4ms and less!) on these monitors are just now becoming acceptable to gamers.

I'm still on a quality CRT monitor enjoying a brilliant display until the whole TFT LCD debacle gets sorted.

I had a dead pixel on my old CRT aswell. But it was only one. And it was ancient. :P

I don't have any dead pixels on mine.  I checked out a lot of reviews and made sure i selected a tft that has a history of no dead pixels.  I'm using the Acer AL1716.  It is a very good tft, i highly recommend it! ;)

That's only a 17" monitor though Delta. 19" LCD's can be found cheap now, and 8ms is still too slow for gaming, though many apparently find it acceptable, I couldn't use one, tried it, sent it back.

Did you know that if you set your screen resolution to 1024 X 768, then you have the equivalent 786,432 fly poo droppings on the inside of your cathode ray tube... :o...!
