My wireless network is messed up.  We have four computers connected to it.  On my computer, the adapter picks up the signal fine, but for some reason it cant get an IP address.  The IP is assigned by the server.  I don't know why it wont work.  All of the settings are the same as on the other computers, and all of the other computers work fine.  I cant figure it out, and my dad wont get off his ass to work out the problem.  Any Ideas as to what is causing this?

May want to try and set a static IP. Also I know these are sill fixxes but: Restart Route and computer, unplug network cable and replug.

No, my dad finally told me that the problem was the internet provider, not us. For some reason, my adapter keeps saying that the IP is being used.  SO I have no option other than to wait for it to be fixed.  What really pisses me off is that out of the 4 computers we have on our network, mine is the only one not working, which means no online flying.  I tried using my old computer (which gets on the internet) last night for us tour, but with a 733Mhz (yes, megahertz, not gigaherz) processor and a POS nVidia Geforce 4000, it just could not handle the strains of online flying.  I can still play fs, but since I am so big on multiplayer, I really am upset about it.

An ISP problem would not allow use of internet only, the router should still allocate IP's to each PC and establish the network connection.

If the PC's are all set to have an IP assigned automatically, the dynamic DNS on the router will try to assign IP's.

If you have set all the PC's to the same static IP, then you won't be able to connect properly because DNS can't resolve a seperate IP for each PC.

Methinks you need to reset your network back to workable settings using dynamic DNS or configure the network manually to use different static IP's.

It is assigned by the server, and for some reason the server is trying to give my computer an IP thats already being used.  Seeing as its not our server, there isnt anything I can do about it.

IP's shouldn't be assigned by a server, they are assigned by router.

the static IP thing does help, cause i know i had the same problems, until I went static.

now my network goes like this, for easy remembering

gateway: 192.168.0.1
mom's PC: 192.168.0.2
my PC-1: 192.168.0.3
my PC-2: 192.168.0.4
Server: 192.168.0.10
Printer 1: 192.168.0.20
printer 2: 192.168.0.21
PDA: 192.168.0.30

so if we ever add new devices, the router will assign it to the .30 category. all done by the router. i've never heard a network that is provded and serviced by the ISP.
