LCD tv for monitor

Postby FreedSpeak » Sun Nov 27, 2005 12:56 am

Hello,
Recently purchased an LCD 32" tv. It has inputs for a computer. I'd like to try and see how FS9 looks on it but it would require rearranging my whole audio/video setup. Before I go to all the trouble I'd like to ask if anybody is using an LCD tv for their computer monitor and how it looks. Can the entire screen be used or would it be cropped? Any opinions pro or con would be welcome.

My tv is a Sharp 32" Aquos.

Best thing to do is get some really long hook up cords and hook it up away from comp and see if it works, thats what I do with stuff, I usually mess with it, either works or doesnt, Cheers, hope you find this a good technique! (I never really have to move stuff get really long cords) Gunny

i tried that once with some early philips model

the screen is used fully, but the resolution doesnt fit any of the usual VGA sizes.
if i remember it right it used 720x564 pixel for 16:9 and 640x564 (with black stripes left and right of the pic) for 4:3
this led to some proportional distortion i wasn't able to correct, for which i just did away with it.

therefore all progress is due to the unreasonable man.
