But for some reasen the the other to computers on the network cant get in to the first computer on the network. I have shared the files that I want to share with the other to computers, but the first computer still will not let the other to in to the shared files.

Maybe your firewall? Do you "see" the main machine on "Network Neighborhood" from the other machines? What OS are you running.

What's your network's physical topology?
Is everything connected to a server/host computer which is connected to the internet, or are all the computers connected to a switch?
Are you bridging any connections btw?

I have Windows XP in all three of the computers.
WinXP runs a firewall by default. Though I don't know if it blocks the network or not as I'm not familiar with it.

If you do find the default Firewall, as Congo said, in "security center" of XP, at the bottom click the
"Windows Firewall", then "Advanced" and tick the "Local Area Connection".
Maybe you need to click "Add Port" to add each of the names of each of the other PCs in your network. This requires you to put The name and the Port Number of each PC.
I have not found out yet where to find these Port Nos.
If anybody knows please tell us. luke
PS. Antill you succeed, do not forget that you can go the other way, any files you need in the other two PCs (Slave), send them there from the main one (Host)

Hi Yall

I called a dell tech to try to get this worked out. We tryed several thing. He had me go to safe mode, and login to the Administrator. He had me right click on a file that I wanted to shar, Then properties, advance, security, and add everyone to the security window. That did not work. We command promped, and then pinged each computer on the network, and each had good a responce. We even went in to Local Area Connection properties, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP, and asigned an IP number. That diden't work. Would anyone know who to get to the default Firewall, and shot it down.

Start-Connect to-Show all connections-
'Right click' Local area connection- Properties
'Left click' Advanced tab-
'Left click' Settings-
'Left click' Off-
'Left click' Ok
It should be off now.

The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Service........ (WFW) also runs in the background as a service and can be turned off from the Services control page, settings it's property page to disabled. This will ensure it's really off.
START/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services/
Don't forget to turn WFW back on after you have the network up and running and before connecting to the internet, then you can configure the WFW around the network, but only after you get the network setup properly to begin with.
