NTFS?

Can anyone tell me,Why all of a sudden I can no longer run Disk Cleanup and Defrag wont' look at the compressed files?
When I run scan disk it seems to run ok? But when you click on the boxes for Automatically fix and Recover bad sectors, Then re-start the system, there is a screen on start-up that says it cannot access "NTFS"?
I've even tried using a restore point as far back as 06/01/05
But it wont' make the changes?
Windows XP Home.....SP-1.
I cant' figure this one out?

Throw that crummy old Commodore 64 away and get yourself a nice Sinclair Spectrum 48K....

Defrag and cleanup will not work when you have corrupted files or errors on the drive. Scandisk doesn't do a good job at fixing it. Try running a diskcheck from the Recovery Console. Boot up with your WinXP disk and press R to enter the repair mode. Once you get to the DOS prompt, type: CHKDSK /r

That often times will repair bad sectors/files that scandisk can't fix.
