What settings for ASUS Extreme N6600GT?

I've just got my new computer which is Much better than my last one.
And best of all, I have a Real graphics card instead of an integrated graphics card.
The card is a N6600GT, and I wonder, how should I set it's own settings and the settings in MFS to make it work it's best?
I think about the "edge smoothness" (antialiasing I think you call it) and the "anisotrophic filtering", I don't know if that's the right meaning in English since my system is in Swedish  :)

I have a 6800LE, a card very similar to the 6600GT in terms of performance.

With my PC , I can run most if not all my games - smoothly - @ 1280x1024 with 4xAA & 4 x AF, FS2004 is smooth with high detail @ 1280 x 1024 8xS  6x AF - this setting is fine for FS9, useless for GTR! ::)

Rarely, I drop to 2xAA & 2x AF @ 1600 x 1200! - Battlefield 1942 is particularly happy at this setting.

The cards performance depends greatly on what is driving it.

The 6600GT will not run too well on early slower processors.....

What are your current PC Specs  Robban_Sweden ?

Download & Run 3D Mark 03, the benchmark results will give you an idea how your system compares to mine (click the link in my sig )

you have a pretty nice comp there Robban.
Let me ask you something. In terms of the card. do you want excellent quality (quality as in the planes loock very very pretty) or excellent performance (as in you get 40fps or more)?

and if its a new card. Think of downloading some drivers also.
I heard that Nvidia have allot of those in their website..

I wouldnt know because I have an ATi Radeon X8500XT.

Im an ATi guy all the way ;D.

Well, I want as realistic quality as possible. Meaning I want rather high settings on scenery and autogen density, rather high sight distance, 3d clouds and so on.
I don't feel I need the absolute best quality of the aircraft, because I feel I see more of the aircraft from the inside, than the outside.
But ofcourse, I don't want jagged edges and blury labels either.
But I've come to realise that to be able to have very high settings overall in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, and still get good performance, you need a computer and a graphics card that's about the best there is to buy, and I think that's a shame, especially concidering that the game itself was made about two years ago, and computers change a lot in only two years, for the better. But even today, a very good computer can't get good performance with FS 2004 with high graphics settings overall.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Go to www.nvidia.com and download the newest drivers. I know your card came with a driver CD, but there are most definately newer drivers available. In the display settings in windows, click advanced, and go to the Nvidea tab at the top and put antialaising to "application controlled" then in the FS display settings, check the box next to "antialaising". You should be able to put all of you scenery sliders on max, including water. you probably won't be able to max out the clouds sliders though, but you can still get really good looking clouds.

P.S. I just got a 6600GT, so Im not just spouting what I think will work...

Maxing sliders is a guaranteed FS9 slowdown I've found.

Typing "FS9 Optimisation" into Google will offer better results. ;)
