MS Sidewinder FFB Joystick with AC'97

I have a gameport force feedback MS Sidewinder and the FFB doesn't work on my mainboard which has AC'97 sound codec (as so many do!) because apparently the AC'97 codec does not support the gameport FFB sticks, as they use the midi port for the FFB channel...... and AC'97 codec doesn't support the FFB on the midi channel.

The stick is virtually new and I really like the sidewinder sticks.

Is there anyone who has found a solution to get a gameport FFB MS Sidewinder working on a board fitted with AC'97 codec?

I have tried using a Creative Soundblaster LIVE! 5.1 card to remedy the problem but so far, no luck.

This is year 3 of trying to find an answer to this problem.

Anyone?

If you've tried a Soundblaster, with its own gameport, then I'd guess the Joystick itself is faulty, I can't see how  an on-board sound chip would upset a completely different piece of hardware such as the Soundblaster.

I remember you posting about this before congo, the weird thing, is my M$ FF Stick works happily with my friends AC/97 on-board sound & gameport!

Hmm,

Maybe the stick is faulty then.

I've tried it on at least 3 mobos with AC'97 sound, (seems like every board I buy has it!).

Thx, I didn't know they could work at all on such a board until now.
