Why not utilise the RAID capabilities of that nice looking Motherboard eh?  ;)

Hmmm.
LOL. You just want to overclock anything don't you?

Overlocking a prescott needs serious cooling solutions, that CPU throttles at stock speeds under normal conditions.

ya it really does. However with the 5 fans ive got in there it idles at 55C and full load is 65C, so its not too bad, but im going to get a better heatsink and fam / watercooling before i overclock it. Also its already at 3.4 Ghz (stock) and it flys, so do I really need to OC it?

If you are satisfied with the performence, then no.

However, if you feel you need more, O/C it. BTw, I recommend a zalmon 100% copper heatsink:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-118-119&depa=0

I have this on most of my intel p4EE 3.73 ghz CPU's and it does fine. Be sure to use high quality thermal paste (like artic silver) because cheap paste actually causes higher temperatures due to low thermal efficiencies.

ya until i get the heatsink and better airflow i dont think that OCing is going to happen any time soon

ok so i got the new heatsink and two more case fans. I run around 60C full load, and 30C ildeing. now what program do you use to OC it. im thinking around 3.6Ghz to start

You want to knock that Load temp down a bit more before you think of Over clocking. I over clocked my comp (look in my sig) to 2.5Ghz before she cracked.... I run 40 to 50C idle and 70 to 80C Max load.... Luckily I didnt fry anything she was doing oh, 85C max load on OC....... luckily my MB had a temp shutdown limit! I had no temp thing at the time or I woulda stopped! Cheers, Gunny

Overlocking is done through the BIOS. Increase the multipliers, core voltage and FSB. Some mobo's allow o/c'ing through software in windows, see if your mobo has this functionality (o/c software would be included with your mobo). If not, just overclock via the BIOS. It better, at least I like it better.

And you definitely want to get a better cooling solution. That Prescott will throttle even at stock speeds. O/C'ing it with the same cooling solution may even make it worse and could actually slow down performence.

Yeah I want to OC everything and I looked over his Pressy core. Ok so get some water goin lol. Im sure a Xp-90 or XP-120 with a good fan will get you decent temps and a reasonable OC.
