Same thing happened to me when I had to reformat. The DVD decoder program originally loaded up on the machine when I bought it was not on any of the discs that accompanied my machine.

Rather than contacting manufacturer and going that long complicated and ofter fruitless route, I just did a search and bought and downloaded a new DVD Decoder program. $20.00 - $30.00 will get you fixed up. Up to you, you may want to go the longer more complicated route if the original program is not on your recovery/installation CDs.

You already have dvd drivers installed.

What you need is a decoder.

Search yahoo for a free dvd decoder and install one of them.

If your willing to spend money. I recommend Cyberlink's dvd player.
