Has anyone tried this joystick in MS Flight Simulator (from 98 up)?
Would you suggest it as a cheaper alternative to Sidewinders and Saiteks?

I have one, it works wonderfully in FS. I just upgraded to a CH yoke though.

I have one and like everyone said it works very nicely. When you turn on the autopilot on some planes you might have to unplug the force feedback power cable to keep it from flopping around though and I have had mine for about 3 years now and the hat switch is starting to go but yes I recommend it. I also have CH yoke and pedals. Cheers!!

Whoops :-[
I realized that I made a mistake in the name of this stick.
The actual name is just Logitech Force 3D; I don't know where in my head the "Wingman" came from

Anyway the stick is this:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=5016I hope that all your good reviews still apply to this joystick; in case not please let me know

Ah, Ok, mine was the wingman force 3D, which had an extension on the left of the joystick with two buttons and a scroll wheel, but otherwise the was the same...

Hmm, mine isn't as good as everyone elses

.
I can't increase the center spring strength (it's way too low, and yes I've tried everything), and the FF just decided to stop working. Other than that, it's good. Since it seems I am an anomolly with these problems, I would recommend you get it I guess

I bought it the other day and here's my little review.
PROS:
very good installer (no problems at all); very good driver with plenty of fine tuning options; good throttle control; the twist handle; strong force feedback effects; lots of functions even with only 7 buttons thanks to the shift button feature and the 8 way hat switch.
CONS:
no definite "neutral" position: there is no "clunk" corresponding to the center position as there is on the Sidewinder, so it's hard to stay with the wings levelled and you have to keep an eye on the HSI; the twist handle (it's too sensible during takeoff/landing and yes you can lock it but you need a screwdriver so you can't lock/unlock it on the fly).
By the way, Logitech itself seems a bit confused about the name of this joystick: the label on it says "Wingman Force 3D" :D

Just like a lot of real aircraft with control columns rather than yokes. All the aircraft I've flown recently have no way of indicating that the controls are central...

That's why I don't complain too much. If I learn to fly properly with that, I'll end up as a better pilot.
