Sound going out...

Hi,

I have a Soyo P4VDA mother board with onboard audio, system is P4 2.4 Ghz with 64 Mb graphics card. 512 Mb RAM.

Every time I play a Microsoft Flight sim, be it CFS2, CFS3 or MSFS 2004, the sound goes out. I dont mean just for the game, it goes out completely in windows, until I reboot.

Has anyone ever experienced this before or know what to do to fix this problem?

Any help is appreciated.

Oh, the only flight sims this doesnt happen is with MSFS 98 and CFS1.

I'm running the latest drivers with everything.

I have an Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 440 graphics card with the latest drivers. DirectX drivers are 9.0c.

Hi Muldoer,
Have had exactly the same problem though my specs are a little different to yours.
Asus P4800-E Deluxe mainboard
3.2 P4
1 GiG Ram
FX5200 Graphics
It would appear there is a problem with the AC97 soundchip on certain mainboards so I went to the  Realtek AC97 website downloded the latest Beta driver released 21/1/05 installed and guess what , problem solved. Hope this may help  Arthurplum.

it's a stinky SOYO... please get something better

OK Technical prejudice aside...
MS-FS does some weird things with soundcards, in my previous machine the sound quality was degraded after running FS2000...

Get latest drivers for mobo and audio
