Looking at adding another PC to the network to run FS 2000, play CFS1 and 3 across the Lan... etc.. etc.. How do these specs sound:
1.5 Ghz
256MB RAM
40GB HDD
48x CD-Rom
Win2K - I'm still a OS junkie.. gotta play yanno.
32MB Video memory.
Thanks in advance,
John

I'm not the best-qualified to assess your system, but I'll tell you that my first setup had a 1.3 CPU, a 64M card and only 256M RAM , and it ran FS9 pretty poorly even at the default settings. I've since upgraded to a 256M card and added another 256M of RAM, and it's much better, but I suspect with more RAM and a faster CPU, it would be even better. It all depends on how you want it to look and run, but I'd advise a better gfx card and a little more RAM, at the very least. A 40GB hard drive is more than adequate: I've got FS9, CFS3, and IL2/PF installed, and it's not too bad, although I need to expand now to have room for other stuff.
Uh... my bad; looking again at your post, I see you said FS2000, not 2004... I've never had that one, so ... Anyway, CFS will probably run fine on a system like that, but if you can afford it, you'd be well off to go with at least a 128MB video card, and if you're planning to ever upgrade to FS2004, then what I said above is worth considering.

I suppose I can bump up the RAM and Video card after I buy it. I don't want to have a whole lot of cash tied up in the system - heck I can get the system for under $300.00 as listed.
Thanks,
John

Having not played the CFS series I can't say much, but for FS9 you'll need at least 512mb of ram and a 128mb card for anything decent. FS9 is greedy on resources.

SO true, CFS3 is also pretty intensive as far as performance out of the pc is concerned in my honest opinion..;-)

Thanks all for the input. I settled on a IBM Think Centre:
2.8 Ghz
512 Mb RAM
80Gb Hdd
48x CD
32 Mb Video
It should do ok for what I am going to do.
Thank again,
John

I would get something with a better vid card. But otherwise, it seems ok.
