Ok, only 7 hours to come up with what i need to know.

the one in that link probably work. what you need to watch for is the socket type i.e. is your motherboard socket 7, socket A/462, super socket 7 ect. If it is the same socket type, then it should work no matter who makes the CPU.

Well...Contacted our computers company on there 24/7 line and they confirmed that the one i was looking at would not work but a couple others would.   The motherboard i have can only support 266 mghz socket A.  The one i was looking at is a 400 mghz.  But i found a 1.8 gb that was still marked low.  

did not win it though.  in fact was furious when i didnt.  Apparently at overstock there is no such things as a last minute bid like on ebay.  I put my bid in with less then a minute to go and would have won it for $8 :o  Only thing is suddenly the clock showed 10 mins left insted of ending.  Checking my email i found one saying "due to a last minute bid this auction is extended 10 mins" >:(  Didnt worry to much but as i sat there waiting, someone put in another bid therefore extending the auction yet again.  i out bid him right away and luckly no extentions that time.  Before i knew it he had bid over 30 for it which wasnt quite in my budget.  I was wanting under 20.   >:( >:(      

Another check over there shows there is a few more up for bids ending about 7 tommarow night.  Hoping to snag one then.  At least i know now to place my bid before the last 10 mins start :-/     personaly i think that takes the point out of the auction if you cant win something at the last min

Now I have a question, sense we are talking about CPUs. Does your FSB speed and RAM bus speed have to be the same? like if I have DDR266, then do I need a CPU with a 266 FSB? or does it even matter?

I believe that they coexist side by side and one determines another..;-) I have heard that the amount you can overclock your memory is limited to being below the speed of the FSB, but I could be wrong...see the following link for a little bit of info:

Lol, don't look at me when you find it more confusing than when you started! :-)

Make sure the RAM speed is higher or equal to the FSB.

For upgrading your processor, check to see what socket it is and then buy a CPU for that socket.

BTW, make sure that your current heating solution can handle the heat of the new processor. It already fits the socket, so if it can properly cool your new CPU, it'll be ok.

Personally, to be on the safe side, I would just get a new heatsink with fan (they're not that expensive.).
