It's the little things in life... Logitech Wingman

A while ago my Logitech Wingman F/F stick went berserk. Actually it was the rudder that began to flap from side to side uncontrollably and it got so bad it became impossible to use.

I went back to my old Genx500 Quickshot Non-F/F but it wasn't half as good and the rudder was a bit dodgy on that as well.

Got another F/F stick off EBay but the guy was a rip-off merchant and after making a few threats returned the stick and got my

I can bet you that you had a cold solder point somewhere. Good thinking to resolder everything.

funny, I've had the same problem with my Logitech Extreme 3D. I had to deactivate the rudder commands within FS which makes flying and hovering a helo really dificult.

I let my son use my old Extreme 3D, because it was doing the same thing.

It sounds like either a design flaw, or something inheirent in one of the components.

That might be worth writing to Logitech about. It shouldn't matter how old the stick is. A company needs to know about a recurrent problem so they can fix it. It's a Quality Control issue, no doubt.

You never know... You could get a replacement part out of them, if you worded the letter right.

Hmmm...

Wrote a letter to Logitech UK in the beginning. My stick is over 2 years old - they said 'they will repair or replace according to the terms of their warranty..blah blah blah'

By the time you've paid carriage back to them (with Recorded Delivery, about

A good fix there Roger. I'll pop this down in the hardware section for everyone to see, might be some others who could use this tip ;)

Nice one.

yeah i have the  logitech 3d extreme js lovely to fly with and i swear by it except for a different problem to yours ...the throttle controler will not go right down to idle throttle 0% and so i cannot engage reverse thruster.. i have tried recalibrating about 3 times still no joy..any ideas?

Umm daz with any stick by reducing the throttle it will not engage the thrust reversers. for that you will have to just press F2

The fact that sometimes these things get loose sloder points isn't that unbelievable.

These sticks can really kick with force feedback on 100%... enough to make the bottom lift from the table if it does a 100% sweep while i'm holding it thightly (usually when turing sharp corners)

no what i meant was reverse thrusters cant be enabled unless throttle is 0% and it will go down to 2% only so i have to hold f1 then press f2 to get reversers to work.

im not suprised actualy about this joystick and all the abuse i give it.....picture landing a 747 and its dropping too much so you yank your joystick to pull up so hard you fear it may snap in half...the logitech i have to say is quite durable in that respect

hmm, this could be whats happening to my Logitech Wingman Extreme F/Fback js. the rudder kept swaying to the right, forcing me to keep it centered by twisting the stick left. You say to get around it you disabled the rudder controls? How did you do this, just by removing the assignments from the stick?? I'm not confident with soldering the whole board, and

LOL...it's good to know that I'm not the only one with problems with the blessed thing! Guess I will have to take mine apart and resodder it tomorrow in order to fix the aileron control as it tends to start flopping back and forth.  SO far I haven't had a problem with the rudder though...

Thanks for the info on this topic!
