Banish your memory problems...!

Hi all...!

This program has probably been mentioned before but I am so pleased with it that I'll mention it again... ;D... ;D...!

"Freemem"

http://www.infomaticsonline.co.uk/downloads/1128846

It's a free download, worth its weight in gold for Win '98 users who constantly experience their memory fading away to zero during the course of running a few programs... :'(...!

This little gem sits in your tray and shows your total memory remaining, and when it gets low you just fire up "Free Memory" in the program, and as though by magic all your memory is restored back to max again.... 8)...!
Ideal for the flight sims which require lots of free memory to prevent problems... ;)... 8)...!

Cheers all...!

Paul....memory problems, especially in the head region... ;)... ;D...!

Hmmm. Ok, I might try this one. But don't forget that all background pragrams slow you down, Is it better overall?

Hi Dan...!

Closing down background programs makes very little difference in Win '98, even using the "Startup" program to close down the programs.
Unfortunatly it is a well known fact that Windows '98 does not manage its memory very well.
This afternoon, flying the sim, my "free" memory dropped from 368 Mb down to 9Mb over a period of time with nothing else running...!!

"Freemem" restores the memory back to the max again without having to re-boot.
This can be done while the main program is still running... ;D...!

Try it....You'll like it... ;)... ;D...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.

One that I use is Cacheman.
Works awesome and it too will free memory either at the push of a button or when you have it set to a minimum.
uses very little resources and is one of the only background programs I leave running while flying!
And yes it makes a huge differance!!!!!

Just for a example at the present time I'm doing a in depth virus scan, playing MP3s on MMJB, and surfing here while I still have 509 MB of 768 MB RAM running XP, with whatever background programs are currently running, which means when I start the sim using FSAuto start I'll have about 600-650 MB of Ram to play with ;)
