Postby Fighting_Falcon » Wed Sep 22, 2004 10:51 am

I have a radeon 9800XT, I've been trying to take screen shots but to be honest there to bad to post :-[ . Is there some body here that can give me the correct settings for my card and the game so my pics would look a lot better ??? I have downloaded the Omega driver for my card but it didn't make a difference at all ::). I also have enough ram (1024) and a P4 processor. Help would be very much appreciated thanks.

Mike from FSGS introduced me to UNian drivers for my 9800Pro. You could try those. May I suggest you post a shot anyway so we can see the problem. Is your AA turned OFF in FS and ON in the card's Display Settings?

Many settings are based on individual computers. How about posting the settings you currently have, along with your screenshot. Include FS settings and the card's Display Settings.

System specs would be helpful too.

How can I contact Mike? I just downloaded the Omega driver for my card a couple of days ago, it didn't change a thing. The AA is turned on to the max on my card and off in the game. What did this UNian do for your cards performance???? How many FPS do you get in spot view when you're at an average sized airport??? I get about 6 FPS in spot view at an average airport. Thanks for any help.

I went through the FS-GS service. While at Boeing Field, just north of SeaTac (KSEA). My over all FPS is 27. That's an overall from all six Views in Spot. FPS are all relative compared to systems. My systems a little better than yous so FPS won't mean much.

The whole point of the FS-GS service is to turn off all the extra services running in the background and configuring your systems resources to get max performance out of FS.

You can contact Mike Greenblatt at ramsa329@msn.com or via the forum at http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.p ... ea1940c2f0.

I could tell you some settings to use, but then other people would read them and agree or disagree make additional suggestions and just lead you to confusion.

I don't know where your located, but the FS-GS service costs 60Euro or approx $75. It takes a few hours. That's the best recommendation I can give.

That screen shot looks good to me, what don't you like about it?

Joe

ADDED: Your system, I believe, is in the low-mid range. Your vidcard is the best thing right now and your Front Side Bus (FSB) is the choking point. I also forgot to mention... I too, used the Omege drivers for a while, but I wasn't able to compare performance between the Omega and UNian drivers since the other performance tweaks nullified the results.

I get about 11-14FPS going into KSEA and KLAX with all settings max, building storms, megascenery and MAX AI (Ultimate Traffic) aircraft. That may seem low, but it's smooth performance which allows me to maintain control of the aircraft.

I dont see much wrong with that screenshot.  Unless you were running at about 3FPS at that point then yes I would worry.

I am concerned though if you think that looks bad and we all think it looks good, maybe your monitor is broken!!  That might be worth checking out.

Thanks for all the info and help offered, maybe it's just me that's not seeing very well cuz I know it's not my monitor (it's a brand new Samsung LCD monitor). I've already entered the contest, just check it out. I think it's on the last page. Thanks again.

You monitor may be new, but is it running at it's optimum refresh rate? I suggest not going below 60Hz if running 1280x1024 or higher. I can only get 60 from 1600x1200. You should be able to specify specific Hz at certian resolutions.

Check all your hardware in my computer's hardware bit - check its all running to its full potential.

Check for spyware, viruses, defrag, cleanup.... Download http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml and get rid of any guff on startup you don't need.

I have downloaded the Omega driver for my card but it didn't make a difference at all

Did you install them? Make sure you uninstal the existing drivers first to avoid conflict.

When playing FS, press ctrl+alt+delete and in the processess tab right click FS9.exe and change priority to realtime.

If your using default settings have a play around, Try disabling "render to texture" in the hardware tab in FS and turn down clouds a bit. Do you have any other recent (DX9) games you could try for performance, to see if its the PC or FS.

Have a look at trying a few some tweaks: http://skysserver.com/tweaks.html
