Anyone else having problems with SP2 and their Sidewinder precision pro II joystick?  My joystick seems to have been glitchey and now stopped working all together.  It works fine on the other PC here??

I have a USB mouse and that works in all of my USB ports on my PC so I am guessing its somthing to do with SP2??

Grrrrr I cant fly  :(

Well I been playin all evenin with drivers etc with no luck.  So plugged it back in on Miches PC.  Worked ok then went funny.  GGGrrrrr.  Unplugged it then back in and it didn't even register.  Seems it was the stick.  When I moved it over must jog somthin and it works lol.

So I did my favourite trick, 'When in doubt, give it a clout'  I beat the bottom of the stick a bit and plugged it in  ;D  ahh i felt better for that, anyhow the stick is now workin and I dont think anything fell off inside!!

Looks like I'm gonna be in the market for a new stick soon, which is a shame as I really like the M$ ones  :(

It doesn't affect us born-again Windows '98 SE users... ;)...!

You're living in the past Foz. I can put an unlimited amout of Ram on my computer, can you? My OS can be upgraded to 64-bit, can yours?  ;D I had Windows 98se and I had nothing but problems with it.

Try going over to the Avsim forums Gixer. They've opened a board for help with and reporting problems with SP2. There's also a few reports of problems in Microsoft's knowledge base so check there as well.

Gixer,
I know this sounds like a pain the butt but unplug the joystick and try reinstalling windows xp then sp2 and then plug the joystick back on there. Whenever I had to use the Compaq factory restore I was instructed to remove the joystick or any other USB device.
BTW what's different in SP2? Is it worth upgrading from SP1a?

If you think it's the stick causing problems, take it apart and check welds, freyed wires etc...

Gixer, if it gives you any more trouble, hit it with something larger!  ;D

:( Its officially dead.  Wasn't working today either.  Took it apart and there was nothing visibly wrong with it, all wires were attached etc.  Put it back together and tried hitting it in same place and nothing.  Doesnt do anything on my PC and on Miches it freezes hers up!

R.I.P.  M$ Sidewinder pro II  :(
