Old Graphics Card

Ok, heres my dilema.

I have a BRAND new system.

AMD 64 3400+
1GB Corsair
120 GB HD
Audigy 2 ZS
Ect.

I love this new computer, but having some odd problems. And those problems are problems I had with my last computer that I was hoping to get rid of with this computer. Such like Sound Beeping and Crackling. And freezing. Check here for my problem. And believe me, I've tried everything from those guys, and from the guys at creative.

And the only thing that could've possibly brought over the problem from my old computer, is my graphics card. A GeForce 400 MX/MX.

My cousin also thinks it could be my sound card, because it supports 7.1, and it might not support mine, which is a 2.1. But I really don't think that's it. We've been holding out for the x800 for a while, been hard to find.

So that's it, could it really be the graphics card that would hurt the sound and the freezing?

Yup. I had sound probs when I turned my graphics settings right up, like noise skipping etc.

Thanks Gixer, so the root is the vid card. And you were right by what I meant with the 7.1 and 2.1 thing. We're saving for the X800 XT. So if we got this card, our problems would poof away with our old vid card?

I cant guarantee that. All I can tell you is my experiences with FS2004.  If I turn my settings up to max then i get stuttering sound when I pan around etc.  Try lowering your graphics settings in the game and see if you sound gets better, if it does then its likely it could be the cause.

Also ensure you have all the latest mobo / graphics drivers and dx9c etc.  De-frag your HDD make sure everything is tidy.  Dont have any other applications running in the background whilst playing FS either.  FS needs as much CPU power as possible.

I've tried turning down graphics down to minimum, medium, high, max, ect. Nothing has worked. But the problem with Flight Simulator is that it freezes before I even get off the ground. On the ground I'm fine, I can go as fast as I want, but the second im a foot off the ground...

If theres one thing this computer has that my old one didn't is CPU power. It's using about 4% right now. And I've done drivers, updated like crazy for sound and vid.

I'm just going to say that it lies with the actual card itself.

Has your brand new rig got onboard sound, is it disabled?

Can you pull out the audigy card and try the onboard to check if the audigy is defective?

The onboard sound is fine. I was using about a month ago, and then suddenly poofed from the list of options I had. Either Creative or Realtec (onboard).

So, are you saying the onboard sound is working, but it's not working?

You need to isolate the sound as a potential problem, you can shut down the Onboard Sound 2 ways in general....

Turn it OFF in BIOS,
