I have a comp. and was wondering if a gig is to much...I heard that 512 is plenty...On my comp. I have nothing other than FS2002 or FS2004....and a few paywares..what are your thoughts

I assume you're referring to RAM. This would depend on your OS. 512 Mb RAM is supposed to be the optimum for Win98/Me so any more would be a waste of time & money - in theory anyway. On the other hand I'm told that WinXP eats RAM for breakfast & likes plenty of it so the more the merrier. 1 Gb would not be excessive.

You can never have enough RAM. I know some Apple computers accept 8gb of RAM now. Of course what one of the few programs for the Mac would need that much.

You can't have too much but you might not need it! Try to find a utility which will monitor how much your using. If you frequently reach the limit while doing something which really matters then think about upgrading. FreeRamXP I think it was   displayed it nicely in the taskbar.

I think 1gig is ther perfect amount at the moment for the gamer/home user as long as you have win XP, as said any other OS's and you might have problems with this amount.

2gig would be over kill unless your into lots of videoediting or doing major CAD work with big files.

For those of you who said "you can't have too much", you're partly wrong.

As has been previously mentioned, it all depends on your OS.  Windows 98, for example, has a limit of 512MB.  XP, on the other hand, has pretty much no ceiling.  

A gig with XP would be great!

i got a gig and with just windows files loaded  and maybe internet explorer i have roughly 750 MB free so flight sim has that much to play with which is sure more than enough

512 mb is todays standards wont be long before a gig is too little
