hello,
due to a computer crash, i had to format my hard drive. now someone told me it's possible to recover all of the files that were stored on that drive before formatting. does anyone know a program that i can use for this? or does anyone has experience with it?
thanks! ;)

I thought that was impossible. I heard rumours that the cops could do it though.

you probably will not be able to recover anything. but prepare for next time by having two partitions on your HD. use one partition for the OS and stuff, and the other one for important docs. then when the OS goes screwy, just reformat that partition.

Hi BR...!
You have made my day Mate...

...!
What a fantastic program...

..!
I have a floppy disk full of 8 years worth of service schedules, (text file), for my bike which suddenly became corrupted and I lost everything...( I could not open the file)...

...!
This little program has completely recovered the text on my floppy disk, which I have now transported onto another floppy disk..!
Thanks Mate...

...!
A nice cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit on its way...

...!
LOL...!
Paul.

From my knowledge, it is possible to recover data on a reformatted harddrive. Providing there has been no install over it.
It requires a sterile lab, techs, some kind of chemical and a lot of time!
There is no software solution for recovery.
Undeleting files is completely different. When a file is deleted, only the index to the file is deleted from the FAT. If you delete a file accidentally you can use most any undelete prodram and recover it completely providing you recover BEFORE conducting any major writing to the drive.
Example. My kid took a picture on my Dig.Cam. w/floppy The pic was deleted to prevent me from seeing it. I put the disk in my CPU and recovered it. Nice picture of the cat's butt. But if a pic was taked after the delete the deleted pic is written over.
For harddrives it's a little different due to size and fragmentation, but the concept is the same.

Good explanation there skittles, the basic concept is that as long as there are not a lot of new files saved to the disk, yoiu will be able to recover most everything...
deleting does not remove anything, but instead marks the sector on the drive as usable space which is then used the next time information is written to the drive...
