I am having a problem with my joystick where when I am going down the runway holding the joystick steady that it veers off to the left.  Is there a way to recenter the joystick? Also, do you have to use Profiles to properly use your joystick? Thanks for your help.

Have you tried recalibrating the joystick?
Also the veering could be caused by prop torque, what are your realism settings?

I guess this is due to propeller torque since it is to the left. You should add right rudder to correct this or decrease the torque slider in the realism settings.

If this is not the case and the center position is shifted, you can check it at control panel>game controllers>MS sidewinder>settings, and the opened window will have a tab for recentering the joystick if it is not centered properly.

Finally, you don't have to use profiles. Actually I tried to use profiles in some other games but when I start the game it overrides the previous settings that I adjusted with the profile.

??? ??? ??? ???

Are you experiencing this phenomenon with all of your aircraft? including twin props and jets? I have the same type joystick you have and I have not experienced any problems when flying MS flight simulators - only when flying aircraft in IL2 Sturmvik.
