Joystick Problem

In addition to my MS flight simulators, I have the IL2 Sturmovik which I enjoy playing as well. However, although it used to work, my MS force Feedback 2 joystick quit working on this game. It works with my other games. I went to the hardware setting and control but no joy. It's awkward going into combat using the keyboard. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but still no joy. Anyone got any ideas?  Appreciate it.

Try unplugging the joystick from it's USB connection and then plugging back in. Sometimes this helps to get it going again. If that don't work, well, we will have to try something else.

I wonder if you accidently hit a button on IL2 that disabled it. Try checking all the settings again.

I've had the same prob with other games, semi tough fixes are 1. re-install the game, 2. your sound driver, though the sound driver is unlikely to be the culprit, but it's possible. 3. An errant Windows file could also be responsible. 4. Your joystick hates you after all the abuse you gave it.

Thanks for the advise gentlemen but after all I've tried, it's still no joy. I have no problem with my MS Force Feedback 2 with my other flight Simulators (FS2000. FS2004, CFS1, CFS3). I have no sound problem with IL2 and I can control the aircraft awkwardly with the keyboard. Perhaps its an incompatability issue.

Bubblehead,

I still might be barking up the wrong tree, but, Are you aware that your sound drivers are related (and probably are the drivers!) to your joystick?

Sound may be fine but the joystick may still not function properly, so, until you update them to latest version, or research you mainboard Q & A's, Problems forums, you may not be sure! It's worth a shot. Also, check your BIOS settings to make sure both versions of support for USB1.1 and USB2.0  are enabled.

:) :) :) :) :) :)

Waw'll:

Thanks for the help. I finally found out what my problem was. Apparently, I had a second game device (Sidwinder Wheel) which was conflicting with the IL2 Sturmvik but not with my MS simulators. When I pulled out the sidewinder Wheel USB, the IL2 simulator detected my Force Feedback 2. All's well that ends well.
