What I don't think the review made clear is what performance it offers on an AGP slot. An extremely expensive graphics card given you need a new PSU!
What I don't understand is why its called the 6800. They've got nowhere to go!
Stunning performance though! I wonder what the offering is to be from ATi 8)

They did the test using AGP:
"Natively, the NV40 is an AGP chip, but it is already designed to be used with NVIDIA's HSI PCI Express bridge. This bridge will allow data rates of up to AGP 16x (4,2 GB/s) between the GPU and the bridge which, NVIDIA hopes, will counterbalance the bandwidth disadvantage compared to a native PCI Express solution. More information on what HSI Bridge means here." (Refers to their PCI test.)
THG PCI Express test shows not a significant improvement over AGP but may be in the future. Similar to their findings of graphics cards with 256 vs 128. Capability not used because most gamers/simmers don't have high end cards which drives app programming and graphics memory useage.
Still, very impressive test results. I'll bet ATI doesn't match. And a very impressive price. I'll like it better two years from now. Plus a 500 W PSU is required.

I am waiting for the X800xt to be released soon, then i will make my decision on which is best from benchmark scores.
What does not appeal to me compared to the new X800xt is that the 6800 uses up one PCI slots aswell because it is so big. Also the power usage is not good, what the heck are your electricity bills going to look like after running that. Those are the only things right now that are known to be different between the two cards right now.
As i said i am remaining a neutral until the new ATI card comes out then i will decide on what each card offers.

Can't wait for the new 6800. I just hope they got the bugs with DX9 sorted out.

This of course is top of the line to get the nerds going. There will probably be a 6200 and 6600 as well.

its because of its new cooling system which sucks the air out of the card and exits it through the pci slot. same with my fx5950 ultra.. a lot more performance out of it and not too loud either i dont think.. well mine aint

The 9800xt only uses the AGP slot and that is it, and that beats the 5950U and it runs cool and quiet. Even the 9800pro beats the 5950U in direct3D.

Ordered an FX6800Ultra, hopefully it arrives next week. I let you know how it performs in FS9. Never been an ATI man myself so I saw no point in waiting. Only bummer was I had to get a new PSU as mentioned, though 480w is fine. Shame I had a 430w in my case just not quite enough though.

It should be awesome Gixer.... let us know.
Also, What AGP video card DOES'NT use a PCI slot up?
I mean, you can't use the PCI slot next to an AGP card anyway, because it interferes with cooling the AGP card!

I dunno, I dont have much in my PC. My LAN and other stuff is all onboard, I just have a USB2.0 at the bottom.
I'm not overley worried about loosing the space in there.
